Is bail higher for a second or third DUI?
Yes, usually. A repeat DUI is treated more seriously by the court, so bail is often set higher than a first offense. The bond fee is still 10% of whatever the bail amount is.
Does a DUI arrest affect my driver's license right away?
It can. Florida law allows an administrative license suspension at the time of arrest, separate from the criminal case and separate from bail. This is different from what happens with the bail bond itself, so ask us if you are unsure how it applies to your situation.
Will a DUI charge always stay a misdemeanor?
Not always. A DUI can be charged as a felony in some situations, such as a third offense within 10 years or a case involving serious injury. A felony DUI usually carries a much higher bail amount.
