What Happens at the Release Center
The Release Center opened in April 2023, and it is Polk County's newest facility, built just for the final step of the process, letting someone out once their bail bond has been posted. It sits behind Central Jail, off Bob Phillips Road. It is not where people are booked or housed. It is only where they are released.
People held at Central County Jail walk over to the Release Center once bail clears. People held at South County Jail are brought here by the Sheriff's Office for pickup. Either way, this is where a family reunites with their loved one.
Waiting to Pick Someone Up?
If this is your first time dealing with a bail bond company, or if you are feeling scared, anxious, or just not yourself right now, that is completely normal. Most people we talk to have never done this before. This is the right place to be, so here is what to expect.
Once we post a bond, we will tell you when and where to be. Release times depend on how busy the jail is that day, so it is normal to wait a while even after the bond is posted. If you have questions about timing, call us at (863) 533-1443, or call the Release Center directly at (863) 298-6200.
One thing that surprises a lot of families: Florida law does not allow a bail bondsman to conduct bail bond business on jail property. That means we cannot meet you here at the Release Center to sign paperwork or collect payment. Instead, we handle that at our Bartow office beforehand, or we can meet you somewhere nearby that is easier for you, such as a diner or gas station. Wherever you are most comfortable is fine with us. By the time you are waiting here, the paperwork is already done, all that is left is the wait.
What to bring, generally speaking: a valid photo ID, and a phone number where we can reach you if plans change. If you are not sure what else you need, call us and we will walk you through it while you wait.
