What Happens at South County Jail
South County Jail, in Frostproof, is Polk County's other housing facility, alongside Central County Jail in Bartow. After booking at the Sheriff's Processing Center, some people are sent here instead, depending on space and the county's own procedures.
If someone was arrested in the southern part of Polk County, such as Frostproof, Fort Meade, or Lake Wales, this is one of the facilities worth checking first.

Picking Up Your Loved One
If this is your first time dealing with a bail bond company, or if you are feeling scared, anxious, or just not yourself right now, that is completely normal. Most people we talk to have never done this before. Here is what actually happens once bail is posted, so you know what to expect.
You will not pick your loved one up at South County Jail itself. Once bail is posted, the Sheriff's Office brings people held here to the Sheriff's Release Center in Bartow for release. Since that is a drive from Frostproof, we will let you know when to expect them there, so you are not sitting and waiting at the wrong building.
One thing that surprises a lot of families: Florida law does not allow a bail bondsman to conduct bail bond business on jail property. That means we cannot meet you at South County Jail itself to sign paperwork or collect payment. Instead, we handle that at our Bartow office, or we can meet you somewhere closer to Frostproof that is easier for you, such as a diner or gas station. Wherever you are most comfortable is fine with us.
What to bring, generally speaking: a valid photo ID for whoever is co-signing the bond, and a phone number where we can reach you. If you are not sure what else you need, call us and we will walk you through it before you head out.
