Why a VOP Is Different

With most new arrests, bail comes from a standard schedule and can be posted right away. A violation of probation, often called a VOP, usually does not work that way. Many people arrested on a VOP are held without bond until the judge who handled their original case holds a hearing and decides whether to allow bond at all.

That is not something we control, and it is not something a bail bond company can speed up. What we can do is help you understand where the case stands, and be ready to move the moment a bond is actually set.

Estimate a Probation Violation Bail Bond

This calculator assumes a judge has already set a bond amount. If your case has not reached that point yet, call us and we will help you understand what to expect.

Florida sets a $100 minimum fee, so any bail amount under $1,000 will still show $100 below. At that minimum, the fee is due in full, with no payment plan.

  • Answer the phone any time, day or night
  • Help you understand where the case stands and what happens next
  • Move immediately once a bond amount is actually set
  • Work out a payment plan sized to your family's budget

Probation Violation Bail Questions

Why wasn't bail set right away for a probation violation?

A violation of probation arrest is different from a fresh charge. Many VOP arrests are held without bond until the original sentencing judge holds a hearing and decides whether to allow one at all.

Can someone get bail on a VOP at all?

Sometimes, yes. It depends on the judge, the original case, and the details of the alleged violation. There is no guaranteed bond the way there often is with a new arrest, so this always has to be checked case by case.

How long does it take to get in front of the judge?

It depends on the court's schedule and which judge is handling the original case. We can help you find out when a hearing is likely to happen.

What counts as a probation violation?

It can be a new arrest, missing a meeting with a probation officer, failing a drug test, or not completing a required condition, among other things. What counts depends on the specific terms of that person's probation.

If bond is set, is it still 10%?

Yes. If a judge does set a bond amount for a probation violation, Florida law still caps the bail bond fee at 10% of that amount, the same as any other charge.
